Ken Griffey Jr. made a spectacular return from injury with a pinch-hit, three-run homer in the eighth inning of the Reds' 5-4 win over the Cubs on Monday. Go Reds!
Griffey, who tied Reggie Jackson for 10th all-time with his 563rd career homer, missed the previous 17 games with a dislocated right toe.
Jer and I were at this game and it was really exciting. The stadium erupted when Griff walked out. Griffey would make an awesome DH, don't ya think? It was a better ending then the disasterous game the night before last.
The Reds have won their last two, beating the Cubs 3 out of 4 , pulling to within 3.5 of the division leading Cardinals. Scott Schoeneweis also had a lot to do with the wins...His ERA before these games, in which he didn't allow any runs, was 0.77.
The Bengals also beat the Steelers Sunday to bring their record to 3-0......This sent the Steelers to 1-2.
Who Dey!
Cincinnati is a wonderful place to be a sports fan. Actually, Ohio is a good state for the sports fan.(with Cleveland being the black-sheep of the family :-) JK! With the Buckeyes being the #1 ranked college team in the country. Then the Bengals who are picked to win it all this year. Also, no matter what happens from here on out, the Reds have given it a good run this year.
Jer and I are excited because the Cyclones (hockey team) are coming back to town in Oct. We love the hockey games and rate how good the game is by the number and intensity of the fights...I know, we're gruesome.
